The Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS), in collaboration with the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), conducted a five-day Vertical Interaction Course on “Cybercrime Investigation, Digital Forensics and Legal Compliances”. I have delivered an insightful session focusing on the practical aspects of securing endpoints and investigating email-based threats. Essential strategies were discussed for client-side hardening, emphasizing the importance of updating software, configuring firewalls, and deploying robust endpoint protection to reduce vulnerability to cyber attacks. Dr. Rai also provided a step-by-step approach to email investigation, demonstrating how to analyze email headers, trace sender information, and identify phishing attempts. Participants learned how to combine technical tools with forensic best practices to effectively trace, document, and mitigate email-borne threats—strengthening their overall cyber defense posture.
